How to install CAB files on Your Pocket PC

I am writing this simple guide with the idea to help you installing and using all those great applications you will ever want. How to install CAB files on Pocket PC?

First of all you need to find and download the program you want to install. I will use an application called PDAStatus, which shows the status of your device on today screen. When the download process is complete you need to copy the CAB file and paste it somewhere on your device, I personally recommend to do this at the Storage Card. Note that some applications are zipped so you need to unarchive them to have the CAB file. Now you need to open pocket pc's File Explorer, located into the Programs. Browse the storage card or the location you used to copy the CAB. When you select and run it, a windows will appear, which asks you to Choose a location to install the program. It can be your Device or the Storage Card, so select your choice and click below on Install. The process after that is fully automated and after the installation is complete it will show you confirmation screen.

This is all you need to do to install CAB files to your Windows Mobile Pocket PC device. Below is video on which you can see how I installed PDAStatus on my HTC TyTN.

How to Decrease a lengthy Home Page of your Blog in Wordpress

You can truncate blog entries so that only the first part of certain posts is displayed on the home and archive views. When you do this, a link will be placed directly after your excerpt, pointing the reader to the full content of the article.

You can find the More Tag button in the first row of the visual editor toolbar or by pressing Alt+Shift+T:

Using the More tag

1) Go to Posts -Add New in your dashboard to create a new blog entry (this does not work with Pages).

2) Begin writing your post. When you decide that you want to cut it off, insert the More tag to split the post (mark where the excerpt officially ends). You will see the More Tag as such in the visual editor:

3) Finish writing your post.

HTC Smart Review and How to's

Being a veteran in the smartphone market is huge advantage when you decide to come up with something new. After so many Windows Mobile and Android devices, HTC surprised us with a completely different product – HTC Smart. It’s a semi-smartphone that runs on the unusual Brew Mobile platform strengthened with the fancy Sense UI.

Throwing another mobile OS on the market is hardly the right move since the smartphone arena is already over-crowded. But it seems HTC Smart is HTC’s way of making a feature phone. The Linux-based Brew Mobile platform used for the HTC Smart hardly makes it a proper smartphone to boot. Truth is, there are modern touch feature phones that have more “smart” in them than this one.
But enough about software, let’s see what HTC Smart has to offer in terms of hardware.

Key features

  • Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support
  • 3G with HSDPA 3.6 Mbps
  • Brew Mobile software platform with HTC Sense UI and social networking integration
  • 2.8" resistive touchscreen of QVGA resolution
  • 300 MHz processor, 256 MB RAM, 256 MB ROM
  • 3.15 megapixel fixed-focus camera with LED flash
  • Standard miniUSB port for charging and Mass Storage data transfers
  • Stereo Bluetooth (A2DP)
  • microSD card slot, up to 16GB support
  • Standard 3.5mm audio jack
  • Smart dialing
  • Stereo FM radio with RDS
  • Excellent loudspeaker performance

Main disadvantages

  • No Wi-Fi connectivity
  • QVGA resolution doesn’t do Sense UI graphics justice
  • Screen has poor sunlight legibility
  • No video-call camera
  • No voice dialing
  • Camera lacks auto focus, records QVGA@15fps video only
  • Only few applications preinstalled and no access to app repository for native BREW apps
  • Limited organizer functions – no notes/memo, no voice recorder or an office document-viewer
  • No multi-tasking
  • Web browser poor and rather slow

Q.What OS does the phone support?
Using HTC Sync for HTC Smart this phone supports Windows XP, Windows 32-bit or 64-bit Vista, and 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7.

Nokia's Dual Sim Mobile C1-00

Just shared from GSMArena.com

After years of watching their rivals introduce one dual SIM phone after another, a few months back Nokia finally decided to join them and unveiled its first mobile phones capable of accommodating two SIM cards at the same time. Eager to see what it held in store, we took one of them, the Nokia C1-00, for a spin around our testing grounds.

Instead of even bothering to catch up with the competition, the Finns chose to play the game by their own rules and made their first steps into the dual SIM mobile phone market by announcing a couple of entry level devices. No luster and certainly nothing groundbreaking, these devices (including the C1-00) pack only the most basic of features.
So, you get what you pay for. And what you need. Which is dual SIM telephony. The Nokia C1-00 works with two SIM cards and comes with a color display, a built-in FM radio and a handy flashlight.
Here’s the pros and cons of getting a Nokia C1-00.

How to Export Email Addresses of all your Facebook Friends

Search the Facebook Apps directory for something like “export contacts” and you’ll come across quite a few applications that sound as if they can transfer your friends contact information out of Facebook.
There’s an app called “Export Friends” that will save you friends names, city, birthday and their current location in a CSV (text) file that you then import into Excel, Gmail or any other web email program.
Then there are social plug-ins that can sync photos and status updates of your Facebook friends with matching contacts in Outlook.
The problem is that none of these apps can download what  you are looking – the phone numbers and email addresses of your Facebook friends. There are Greasemonkey scripts and other hacks that can pull this information from Facebook through “web scraping” but don’t ever take that route as Zuckerberg’s army might ban your account forever.

Export Email Addresses of your Facebook Contacts

Facebook APIs don’t expose email addresses of users and hence none of the Facebook apps can provide you with the actual contact data of your friends. There’s however a simple (and perfectly legal) workaround that can help you easily download all your friends email addresses from Facebook’s walled garden.

Ban on BlackBerry services will not be implemented in KSA

Saudi Arabia was due to ban the BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) service in last week, but the Communications and Information Telecommunications Commission (CITC), gave operators until Monday to test servers based with each of the three operators in the country that offers BlackBerry services.

Reuters now cites a source familiar with the talks between the CITC, RIM and the operators as saying that the idea of setting up a server at each of the three local service providers has proved impractical, and that in place RIM has agreed to offer Saudi Arabia's interior ministry and intelligence services the codes to all Saudi BlackBerry users.

The CITC was not available for comment, while RIM referred to an earlier statement that "RIM cooperates with all governments with a consistent standard".

Report a Yahoo Group if it is annoying you

Google groups has provided a very nice and clear system to report a Group but Yahoo sometime is annoying and it is difficult to find the Group abuse report page. Often it happens with me suddenly I start reciving tons of email in my inbox. When I inquire about the sender I came to know these email coming from various mailing groups, mostly Yahoo groups. I have a yahoo identity and I am part of few yahoo groups too, but when I visited my yahoo groups page I don't find myself as a member of group who is sending me bulk emails. This thing really irritating me. When I visit suspected group who is sending me un-necessary email I can't login to that. I have added my multiple ids in my yahoo groups setting so most of the time I transfer my regular group emails to gmail or hotmail becuase I can't bother login to all my mail boxes everyday. This confuses me more at Yahoo groups.

How to Report a Yahoo Group

To report abuse of a Yahoo group please visit the url below.
http://help.yahoo.com/abuse  or  abuse.yahoo.com

You will find a page like this. (click on the image for a larger version)

Select Group Abuse, you will be presented a form where you have to fill out, your contact details, group name, the email you found from group including full header.
After filling out all these details, just sit back and relax. Yahoo customer support team will soon take necessary actions on that and they probably contact you once or twice in case they need more information.

If you have something to ask, please drop me a comment and I'll response back soon. I hope this information will be useful for you.

Google Adsense help requires Macromedia Flash ???

I was just surprised to see name of Macromedia at Google ad-sense help page. They have put some training videos at Google Adsense help page and beside they wrote in brackets (Macromedia Flash required). I was a big fan of Macromedia Software company and I have started using their software back in 2001 at the time of Dreamweaver and Fireworks version 3. Later on probably after Dreamweaver 8 Macromedia has been sold to Adobe systems and its name vanished from everywhere, from the internet, from the Softwares itself and other media sources. I personally thing Macromedia was doing better job than Adobe systems, however still products like Dreamweaver and Fireworks are a great success even though Adobe are handling them.

For now just leave this story aside, my topic is why Google didn't update their help pages, instead of Macromedia, name of  Adobe Flash should be written there. Is Google team is that sleepy that they are not aware of Macromedia's ending or Is there some solid reason behind this to put Macromedia name there. Check the snapshot below. The page is located here.

Easily Submit your site to Ask.com

Mr. Garry Conn has written this easy way to submit a website to Ask.com. Unlike Google Search engine or Yahoo Search, Ask.com don't provide any webmaster tools or URL submission. There is only one way to submit your website or blog into ask.com.

That is, you must have an xml format sitemap for you blog, if You don't have, you can easily create one.

Lets see what Garry saying.

How Do I Submit My Site To Ask.com

Ask.com is making a come back and getting your site listed in their search engine is well worth the time and effort. Submitting your site into Ask.com is a great way to help you gain more traffic from sources other than Google. It is a good idea to invest time and create strategies on pulling in traffic from multiple sources. If you loose a source but have other sources to fall back on, your site will not suffer from a huge loss in traffic.

Submit Your Site To Ask.com

Before you can submit your site to Ask.com you need to have sitemap.xml.

  • If you use WordPress, you can find information about adding sitemap.xml by visiting this page. If you use Blogger, you can find what you need by visiting this page.
  • Once you have a sitemap.xml file in place you can then submit your sitemap into Ask.com This process is very simple
  • When you have your sitemap.xml in place you can submit your site to Ask.com by opening up your web browser and typing the following address and ping it, you need to replace yousite.com with your URL.

http://submissions.ask.com/ping?sitemap=http%3A//www.yoursite.com/yourmap.xml

You will find a message from Ask.com like this.

That’s it. There is nothing complicated to it. Create a sitemap and then point your web browser to the special address mention above. This automatically pings Ask.com and submits your sitemap into their database. Done!

The 500 Most Influential Muslims in the World - Book

The publication The 500 Most Influential Muslims in the World 2009 is published by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center Jordan. It is the first of what is supposed to be be an annual series that provides a window into the movers and shakers of the Muslim world. The RISS Center has strived to highlight people who are influential as Muslims, that is, people whose influence is derived from their practice of Islam or from the fact that they are Muslim. They think that this gives valuable insight into the different ways that Muslims impact the world, and also shows the diversity of how people are living as Muslims today.

Influence is a tricky concept. Its meaning derives from the Latin word influens meaning to flow-in, pointing to an old astrological idea that unseen forces (like the moon) affect humanity. The figures on this list have the ability to affect humanity too. In a variety of different ways each person on this list has influence over the lives of a large number of people on the earth. The 50 most influential figures are profiled. Their influence comes from a variety of sources, however they are unified by the fact that they each affect huge swathes of humanity.

The RISS Center has then broken up the 500 leaders into 15 categories

  1. Scholarly
  2. Political
  3. Administrative
  4. Lineage
  5. Preachers
  6. Women
  7. Youth
  8. Philanthropy
  9. Development
  10. Science and Technology
  11. Arts and Culture
  12. Media
  13. Radicals
  14. International Islamic Networks
  15. Issues of the Day
These categories were developed to help you understand the different kinds of ways Islam and Muslims impact the world today. Two composite lists show how influence works in different ways:
International Islamic Networks shows people who are at the head of important transnationalnetworks of Muslims, and Issues of the Day highlights individuals whose importance is due to current issues affecting humanity.

Disclaimer and Invitation to Participate

Being the first attempt of its kind at a list that shows the broad extent of Muslims influence on the world we acknowledge that there are likely to be gaps in our categorizing, and are sure that we have missed some influential people. We would like to keep the process as open as possible and ask you to please write in
suggestions to 500@rissc.jo

Mothers

Mother is a great gift of god, the gift which is already there for us even before we exist. It starts when we are piece of flush, she starts caring us, and she starts feeding us, protecting us from dangers and troubles. That time we are senseless and we never know if she don't keep us insider her we can't survive. If she refuses us to keep we have no place to go, no place to live.

She makes us grow by providing us blood from insider her body and other needs. She gives us a peaceful place to sleep and eat. At the same time she face troubles in all her daily routines , in walking, in sitting, in eating but still she feels happy to serve us. She faces all these troubles till 9 months for us and also makes kind prayers to God that we remain healthy without any request. Finally she gets hell of pain to make us the part of this world from no existence to existence.

Still her job didn't end, she has to feed us again, and she has to care us more until we can stand up. Again day and night she starts another hard work. Cleaning us, dressing us up, and taking care of our rest and everything we need she do for us without a single penny.

Another period ends and we start walking, that day she become that happy as no one else in this world. After growing us physically now she starts growing us up mentally. She teaches us, she send us to school, she helps us learn things. Again hard work. She listens our stupid things we encounter in the day, she tells us stories so that we can have some entertainment then she makes us sleep in her lap.

Then we start going to school, she take us to school, she brings us back and with the passing time, we feel we have our own identity, who is mother ? She is just a kind servant whose duty is to take care of us. With the time when we finish school and go to college, now mother becomes second priority. We can decide in our matters ourselves, we can go anywhere we want. But she doesn't mind that and keeps giving us same love and care as still we are a kid.

Finally we start our life race, we start earning good money, and we got our own family with a loving life partner and a beautiful house. Mother is now gone far away from our priorities. We become busy and we have to earn, but still she is there for us making prayers. But we are still busy.

How to Transfer Credit in Mobily

Mobily is the second largest Mobile Network in the Kingdom, from its start to today's date it has provided great services and benifits to customer. When Mobily started its services only STC was operating Mobile Networks in KSA. That time call rates were so higher compared to International standards, International call rates, sms rates and Internet data rates. Mobily has started a the trend of promotion offers and low-call rate packages to mobile users in Saudi Arabia that was never done before, in the result using mobile phone became easier for a lot of middle-class community and a big number of expatriates. Now calling outside the Kingdom is not an expensive deal. Expatriates from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Philpines, Indonesia, Gulf and other arab countries are major mobile users.

Mobily is offering so many services that I can't desribe them all here. Here I would like to show the process of transfering credit from one mobily number to another. Please note that credit transfer is not possible among different operators, however it is possible internationally among different operators (this is because they have signed aggrements)

Transfer credit

All Mobily prepaid active subscribers can independently transfer credit from their mobile to another prepaid customer. Why would someone use a credit transfer?

How to Subscribe for Internet from your Mobile in KSA

Currently there are three mobile operators in Saudi Arabia.STC (Saudi Telecom Company), that was incorporated in 1998, which is government owned and biggest Telecom company, Mobily (Etihad Etisalat) that was established in 2004 by a consortium led by Etisalat, the UAE based telecom conglomerate and Zain that is the newest player in the mobile telecommunication market of Saudi Arabia. Building on the expertise of the Zain Group of UAE.

All these 3 providing Voice services, SMS and MMS services, Latest data services like 3G and 3.5G services in their own style. How to make your Nokia phone a wireless access point

In HTC smartphones HTC HD2 was probabally first Smartphone that works as a Wireless access point. Using your 3G connection it enabales you to use Internet on your laptop or desktop PC. HTC HD2 is an expensive phone. To get this facility not everyone can buy HD2. Now it is possible for Nokia S60 (Symbian OS) phones users to turn their Nokia phones into a Wireless access point. It is only possible for Nokia phones that have Wi-Fi hardware buil-in on their motherboards.

Internet connection sharing from GSM/3G/Edge was possible already on many Nokia phones via Bluetooth connections and USB cable connections. But Wireless Tethering really makes a difference.

Just install JoikuSpot Light FREE Hotspot on your Nokia S60 handset. This application is available free and has some limitiations too. It shares your phone's 3G internet connection over WiFi (WLAN) to a single laptop or other WiFi device. The Light version supports basic internet browsing only. However Premium version that  comes in about 7.5 US $ has following additional features.

HTC HD2 - Is it the Best Smartphone ever

For many years Windows Mobile users have been disappointed every time a new handset was announced because this or that feature was missing. Not long ago it was screen resolutions, people wanted VGA screens, before that it was Wi-Fi or GPS, 3D acceleration or camera flashes etc. This year HTC finally announced what everybody’s been wishing and waiting for. A Windows Mobile Smartphone that has every single feature imaginable (besides a QWERTY keyboard), the HTC HD2. Will this device be enough for the power user?

The Hardware

First we are going to look at what we’ve got here. With its 4.3inch WVGA display the HTC HD2 has the biggest capacitive touch screen on a phone ever and is the first capacitive Windows Mobile device. Made popular by the iPhone (followed by Android devices) capacitive touch panels enable multi-touch/point input unlike commonly used resistive touch-panels and a smoother finger interaction thanks to the glass screen. Another advantage of this technology is that there is no air gap between the touch-panel and the LCD display so optical clarity and contrast is improved reducing the need for heavy backlighting making power draw lower. Unfortunately traditional stylus (or any other conventional object, finger nail) can no longer be used.

Other than that, the huge screen is the first thing that will feast your eyes when you see the HD2, and the device’s second most important component is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset (QSD8250) which is composed of a 1ghz CPU and 600Mhz DSP. The CPU is a derivative of the ARMv9 Cortex8 architecture and includes an AMD Z430 GPU featuring a unified pixel & vertex shader pipeline (based on the Xbox 360 Xenos GPU) and is OpenGL-ES 2.0 compatible. To make it simple, it’s the fastest mobile SoC out now (nVidia’s Tegra APX is close but the ARM11 CPU currently used is holding it back). Besides those two important features the HD2 packs a 5Mpix camera with autofocus, dual LED flash, 448Mb of Ram, 512Mb of Rom, Micros USB port, 3.5mm jack; FM radio, aGPS, Digital Compass , and a lot more.
